Kwality Music…

Recently the state of our hip hop in SA has been on the up, actually scrap that our whole music scene has been on the come up, be it house (which is at the forefront), hip hop, kwaito, afro soul, just wish this could also translate to record sales. This includes production, lyrical content & catering for the different folks out there ranging from social issues to club bangers. Anyways I have a few favourites some fairly new and some a bit older, but I think if you can go buy at least one of these albums…INPO

The wonder that is Stevie

Well lately I find my self listening to a whole lot of music and if the current muso’s is anything to go by, heaven help us all. It means we have a handful of artists being the sunshine of music industry, just tries to reference some of Stevie Wonder‘s songs. He has an impeccable discography and in my opinion penned some of the greatest R&B songs of all time.

stevie wonder

A week or so ago I think it was his birthday or something, not even sure if they were hounoring him but I know he was in the frenzy that is twitter. He happene to trend again just last night or yesterday, not sure. When someone remakes a song, most people expect a song to be up to par with the original or well surpass the original, in most cases the latter is what we usually get a mediocre of a remake. I decided to listen to Stevie’s catalogue and see the remakes I think were superb. This list is in no particular order Read the rest of this entry »

When I first heard Cashtime Fam featuring Teargas I thought they were going to be an extension of Teargas and deliver the same style (in simple terms I thought they biting istayela se Teargas). Rita Ora hitting th US of A

Jay-Z & Rita Ora

Jay-Z & Rita Ora

Rita Ora touted as the next big thing and yeah she’s good, as you know the guys at The Smoking Section put me on to her and they know good music. Anyhow Rita was with BIC’s (Jay-Z) dad and he was doing an intro and promo of some sorts with the Londoner.

They were promoting her new single called “Party & Bullshit”, wishing the beautiful Rita all the best.

Listen to Party & Bulls**t below

While back in SA, yesterday some of us got to see Malehlokwa perform one of her songs live on SABC1’s Live and have to say Maleh (that’s her stage name) performed Chimsoro was awesome and as expected she is super talented. All the best to her.
